Get to know our instructors - Meet Paola

Posted: 12 February 2020

At HBF Stadium we understand how important learning the skill of swimming is, especially living in the water-loving city of Perth. That's why we want to make sure that all of our instructors are experienced and make every learn to swim journey a positive and enjoyable one.

Here is your chance to get to know one of our many awesome instructors we have teaching at our HBF Stadium swim school. Meet Paola!

How long have you been a swim instructor?

I've been teaching swimming for the last 10 years in Brazil, the United States and now Australia

What swim levels do you teach?

When i was in Brazil I taught parent and babies classes, beginner swimmers, squads, adults as well as an open water team. In Australia i am currently teaching Toddlers, Levels 1 to 7 and Adults.

What are your certifications?

  • Postgraduate degree in swimming and water activities in Brazil
  • Teacher of swimming and water safety by AustSwim
  • C.P.R (Resuscitation)
  • Working with children

What is the best part about teaching at HBF Stadium?

The best part about teaching at HBF Stadium is not only because of the deep water, which is very challenging, but also the positive atmosphere which helps to drive my passion of teaching people how to swim.

Why do you think it is so important for everyone to become a competent swimmer?

I've seen so many people struggling with weak to little swimming skills and losing the opportunity to have fun in the water. It made me realise that people do not need to be a fantastic swimmer, they just need to have the chance to learn how to swim to be able to survive.

What is something people may not know about you?

Well, I'm a Disney crazy fan and Harry Potter addicted!

If you could be anyone else for a day who would it be and why?

If I could be someone for the day i would be someone famous like Beyonce. It would be great to have the opportunity to go to unique places and spread happiness to other people and motivate them to believe in their dreams.

Who is your sporting idol?

I don't only have one! My first is Pele, a soccer player from Brazil who has been an inspiration for me to practice sport and still motivates a lot of kids today. Second, is the American surfer Kelly Slater, who is my idol because like me, has the water as his second home.
