Get to know our instructors - Eliza

Posted: 29 November 2018

Our swim instructors are helping teach more Australian kids everyday to become competent swimmers.

With the important job of teaching your child to swim, it is vital that swim instructors are highly experienced and educated. At HBF stadium we ensure that as well as being experienced and knowledgeable our instructors are friendly and make sure your child feels comfortable in the water when learning to swim. Each instructor also brings a unique set of teaching techniques and passions for swimming to our swim school program.

One of our instructors, Eliza who has been teaching at HBF Stadium for over three years brings with her a great passion for swimming and an international love of teaching.

Get to Know Eliza -

Q: What swim levels do you teach at HBF Stadium?
I teach all levels from toddlers in the morning to level 6, level 7 and intermediate squads, as well as supervise a few days a week.

Q: What are your certifications?
I have my:

  • Autism Qualification
  • Bronze Medallion
  • C.P.R (Resuscitation)
  • Senior First Aid
  • Working with Children

Q: What is your favourite part about being a swim teacher?
My favourite part about being a teacher is when a child starts to trust me and will tell me about their day or laugh at something which makes me laugh, it also makes it easier to teach them and their swimming improves.

Q: When did you start instructing?
I started teaching over three years ago once I got back from my gap year in England, where I was helping to teach kids.

Q: Do you think swimming is an important skill to learn?
I think it is an incredibly important skill to learn, especially living in Australia where the beach and swimming is so quintessential to our culture.

Q: What is one thing people may not know about you?
I have done the Rottnest swim 3 times.

Q: If you could spend a day being somebody else who would it be? And why?
I would be Beyonce so I could travel the world and actually be able to sing and dance or I would be a famous snowboarder so I could attend the winter Olympics and be in the snow all day whilst doing flips.

Q: What is your favourite part about working at HBF Stadium?
My favourite part about working at HBF Stadium is all the instructors we work with are really close and we look forward to coming to work everyday to have a laugh.
