Get to know our instructors - Cyrus

Posted: 4 January 2022

Meet Cyrus, another member of our Swim School Team. He would like everyone to be able to take advantage of Australia's many water based activities by becoming a strong, confident swimmer.

Q: How long have you been a swim instructor?

2 years

Q: What swim levels do you teach?

Currently I teach levels 1,2,3,4,6,7, squads and a few private lessons

Q: What are your certifications?

  • Austswim teacher of water safety
  • Austswim assessor
  • Supervisor
  • CPR
  • Working with children

Q: What is the best part about teaching at hbf stadium?

The best part about teaching at HBF Stadium is the atmosphere. From the colleagues to the students we teach, it is a very friendly, fun and all around great environment to work in.

HBF Stadium does a great job of promoting equality and equal opportunity among staff and the people we teach.

Q: Why do you think it is important for everyone to become a competent swimmer?

The primary reason I think everyone should learn to swim is for safety, the amount of pools, ocean, lakes and rivers people of Australia have access to is huge and you need to know how to be safe around water.

Equally important is that with all the beautiful coastline and places to swim Australia has to offer you are just missing out on an amazing part of this country and what better way to beat the heat in the summer.

Q: What is something people may not know about you?

I am a marathon swimmer with 5 solo crossings to Rottnest and I am a martial arts competitor.

Q: If you could be anyone else for a day who would it be and why?

If I could be anyone else for a day I would be Keanu Reeves and star in my favourite action movies.

Q: Who is your sporting idol?

My sporting idol is Ross Edgley, he is a man who pushes the limits of marathon sports to the extreme and I hope to achieve such extreme challenges one day.

As well as our knowledgeable, experienced and friendly instructors like Cyrus, at HBF Stadium we offer classes with low ratios to ensure maximised learning. Swimming classes at HBF Stadium are continuous with a six week break in the December/January school holidays when our Summer Holiday Swim takes off, so kids are consistently progressing their skills.
